A dental condition that shouldn’t be ignored
Gum disease or periodontitis is a serious gum infection that can damage the soft tissue around the tooth and destroy the bone that supports the tooth. It’s an infection of the gums that starts as plaque, with hardens to form tartar.
An early stage of gum disease is known as gingivitis. Left untreated, gingivitis becomes periodontitis, which can ultimately destroy the tissue surrounding your teeth, and the bone that holds your teeth in place.
